This article in the Denver Post is about how some schools around the country and in Colorado want to make it easy to access birth control pills through your school. Wait what? Who thinks up something like that, who would think "hey if we need the number of teen pregnancies to go down why don't we just encourage teens to have more sex." To me this doesn't make sense at all and is just plain weird. Sure by giving these teens access to birth control will drop the number of teen pregs, but it also gives teens who are not active to get the right protection so that they can start . In my opinion I think that the parents should play a bigger part in this decision and have the final say whether this goes on in there child's school, or at least talk to there kids them selves and be a little more responsible. Its a lot different then every day decisions and parents I think need to really take things into consideration, because if somebody decides to call in sick and not go to work they can maybe get away with it or just get yelled at but if they don't take responsibility with there children then they have a angry pregnant 14 year old. So if the school chooses to do this then that's good for them but i still think that a parents role in the children's life will keep them safer then birth control

I posted a blog about birth control in schools as well, and I agree completely with you. I think by offering birth control and condoms you are only encouraging teens to be sexually active. It may stop pregnancies but it will increase sexually active students. Also, you make a good point about parents being more responsible and talking to their teens. I think this is a good idea but a lot of teens most likely won't listen to their parents and will rebel against them. I posted this blog because I think it is a tough situation there really is no right or wrong thing to do.
WORD
I agree 100% that's just the stupidest thing I've ever heard. How is this going to help kids, it just gives them temptation and a way to get away with something bad. I don't think it is the schools place to make such a decision to let students have access to a substance like birth controll.
I totally agree with you. Maybe the parents should play a bigger role in their children's life. They should have the right to say if they do or don't want this to happen in their children's school. If the school takes a chance to give acces to birth control, then why not just put a huge sign out saying go right ahead and have sex. I also agree about how it will encourage sexually active Teens. That's when their parents need to set in and take some responsiblity for their kids.
You make a very good point, yes the number of pregnancies may drop but the number of kids that aren't sexually active will probably increase. In this situation there is really no soloution. It's just a tough spot for our society. Good blog keep on going.

Well Andrew makes a very good point about this topic. In my opinion I think that parents should play a bigger role in there children schools. And should know what they can and can not do. This is a topic that should be talked with a young teen and her parents. Not the public schools. Because if a young teen is espoused to already having sexual intercourse then it should be there problem not the schools. Although it could be a good thing that the school is giving out birth control. To enable an unexpected pregnancy. But that should be a choice one teen and there guardians make on there own.
Hey Andrew, I totally agree with what you’re saying. That is so messed up that schools are giving out birth control!! That is seriously just going to encourage more kids to get into sex and stuff. Well, anyways good job on your blog.
As your 2nd Mormon homie after Tyler, I must say I agree. My beliefs go against teens getting busy anyway, so I'm with you. Teens are having sex and it seems like everyones ok with it. Someone needs to draw the line! Nice blog Andrew.
